Bellingham Puppet and Mask Festival

March 23, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Come forget we’re all puppets of the system — watch masters manipulate and make magic with premium puppet shows! Bellingham Puppetry Guild and the Alternative Library present a full weekend of puppet shows, mask performances, and storytelling for All Ages!

Doors at 7:30pm; Performances at 8:00pm
Single night tickets will be available at the door: $8-20 sliding scale

Phoebe Wahl is an illustrator, sculptor and children’s book author based in Bellingham. She is the author of Sonya’s Chickens, for which she earned an Ezra Jack Keats Book Award. Her primary media are watercolor, collage and fabric sculpture.

Andrea Love is an independent stop motion animator and animation director based in Port Townsend, WA. A life long lover of movies, Andrea received a BA from Hampshire College in 2010, with a concentration in video production and film studies. She is a self taught animator, specializing in the integration of stop motion and needle felting. Andrea works from her home studio, where she builds wire armature puppets and three dimensional worlds out of wool, wood and paper mache. Her short films have been screened at film festivals around the country including the Tribeca Film Festival and the LA shorts Fest.

GennaRose Nethercott is an author/poet in the midst of an eight month long national book tour to promote her latest book, The Lumberjack’s Dove. She’ll be presenting a half-hour long theatrical reading of the piece, animated by a sixty foot panoramic shadow puppet crankie of hand-cut paper silhouettes.

String and Shadow – String and Shadow Puppet Theater is based out of Olympia, Washington. With mixed backgrounds in theater, puppetry, visual art, and computer science, they have joined forces to play with trash in public together for the last two years. They specialize in things big, tiny, peculiar, dreamy, and unsettling.
