Philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre’s famous 1945 lecture ‘Existentialism is a Humanism’ (wherein he summarizes the most basic ideas of his 1943 work ‘Being and Nothingness’, which he describes as ‘existentialism’, as well as his early views on ethics) and a question and answer session with the audience which follows. The lecture quickly became the basis for the general public’s understanding of existentialism. This book is a great introduction to Sartre’s early thought.
