This collection includes a variety of differently styled stories all from the mind of Moebius. Many of these stories were never to be revisited and are told in a kind of punch-line style reminiscent of gag comics. The world building artwork is so catching that many have said Moebius' work on these stories is what came to define the aesthetic that later evolved into cyber-punk. While being wildly imaginative, many of the stories in this volume are also very funny. By any other standard these stories would probably be outstanding, but in the context of Moebius' later work, these stories seem much less developed.

Great collection of the "Best Of" American Splendor. If you saw the film and it piqued your interest in American Splendor or Harvey Pekar this is a great place to start.

Kind of light offering, but good insight into the sketches and doodles of Bill Sienkiewicz. The Cons: This was printed in 1990 and seems kind of dated because of the printing technology at the time.

A graphic biography one of the most innovative and influential rock musicians, guitar legend Jimi Hendrix. Bill Sienkiewicz is a great choice to illustrate the Hendrix style of music. Another standout is the style lettering used for the lyrics of songs.

Great book of cartoon journalist Joe Sacco's 1990's era work. Some good biographical information on the artist. A change of pace from his more serious work.

While I was not familiar with any of the artists in this collection, I found many of the stories really entertaining. The tone of the selections span a pretty wide array of intents, ranging from seemingly direct reinterpretations of classic creation myths to cartoon joke strips. My favorite pieces in this collection however are those which attempt to create their own original creation stories and capture the resounding archetypical force that is embedded at the heart of the most memorable of myths.
