SUMMARY:Cybersecurity 101: Intro to securing yr $#!'|' on the Interwebs
DESCRIPTION:Cybersecurity 101 – Intro to securing your shit on the Interwebs: Making sure we can binge the new season of Stranger Things without the feds profiling us. \nWhen you hear things like “We live in a state of mass surveillance” and “Corporations are tracking and selling all your information\,” do you enter a state of moral despair? Feeling like there’s nothing you can do to avoid big brother and his corporate baby daddies looking over your shoulder whenever you turn on your smartphone? Overwhelmed by the constant knowing that searching the web is close to impossible to do in privacy? \nIf you answered yes or no to any of these questions\, this is the workshop for you. \nComing to terms with the world we live in is a battle in and of itself\, but figuring out what to do about it can be riddled with incomplete answers\, hella bullshit\, and words so big it takes an hour and a half of googling to even understand. \nThe purpose of this workshop is to give people the resources to use the internet in whatever way they want without being watched and recorded while they are doing it. This course will be part one in a two-part series geared towards easy fundamentals of computer security. \nThis 101 workshop will cover:\nComputer Security?\nWhat it is and why we need it.\nDifferent threat levels\nCreating a “Reasonably Secure” relationship with the internet\nSecuring yourself from the Feds vs Corporate interests and how they are really the same\nGood practices with passwords\nAlternatives to corporate search engines\nWhat a VPN is and how to do it for free \nDATE: Saturday 7/27/2019\nTime: 2:00 PM\nLOCATION: The Alternative Library aka The ELF DEFENCE CENTER aka That one place where you saw a show and was like “Why are there books everywhere?” \nThis workshop is allegedly sponsored and funded by George Soros\n^ We still haven’t gotten the check yet\, so we’re also asking for optional donations \nRecommended Donation: $6 – $10\nRecommended Donation For Both Courses: $15\nNo one will be turned away for not having that paper \n– Workshop hosted by CIA agents attempting to infiltrate “the movement” because our boss told us we need to decrypt a cat-themed messaging cypher known as “ACAP” – \nFollow-up Course: Cybersecurity 202 – Interwebs Anonymity: How to censor your face when you use Snapchat.\nDATE: Saturday 8/3/2019\nTime: 2:00 PM \nFor accessibility information\, contact the alternative library  \nPS – We don’t endorse googling anything

SUMMARY:Rahikka / Steve Sehman / WMD
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the AltLib for an eclectic\, electronic evening with spiraling synth sounds! \nRahikka [SEA]\nRahikka is the pseudonym of Seattle based electronic ambient artist Carson Rennekamp. Inspired by abstract expressionism and experimental cinema\, Rahikka focuses on meditation\, repetition\, and organic regeneration in non-narrative structure. Rahikka’s third LP\, Black River\, was independently released on June 8\, 2019. Based on atmospheric landscapes and imagined realities\, the Black River constantly flows through subtle tones\, effects\, and noise.\nhttps://rahikka.bandcamp.com \nSteve Sehman\nBased in Bellingham\, Steve crafts experimental electronic music that combines analog synths\, acoustic instruments\, field recordings\, spoken text\, and digital media. His music address dualities\, where ambient\, minimal textures give way to dense\, engulfing soundscapes.\nhttps://www.stevensehman.com/ \nWMD\nWMD is the ambient electronic project of Michael Erickson. The prolific electronic musician from Bellingham creates lush\, airy songs thrumming with the power of melancholia\, nostalgia\, and the bliss and sorrow of relationships. Erickson’s music taps into a blend of chillwave\, downtempo\, and even post-rock. As daunting as that can sound\, WMD lands somewhere between Tycho\, Washed Out\, and Baths in his deep\, melodic production.\nhttps://wmdchiptune.bandcamp.com/\n—–\nDoors at 7:30pm; Music at 8:00pm\n$6-10 supports the artists and the AltLib\nAltLib is always ALL AGES\nNOTAFLOF
