SUMMARY:MoTus / Renee Dion / Dirty Ferns
DESCRIPTION:Doors at 7:30pm\nMusic at 8:00pm\n$8 supports the artists and the AltLib \nRenee Dion’s soulful sound could be heard on music blogs across the web\, on albums by alternative soul icons\, and in clubs and festivals from her hometown\, Columbus\, Ohio\, to New York City. And as her fans anticipated her fourth project\, life came at her fast–she took a musical break. What emerged from Renee’s hiatus is a simmering album\, HAVEN where she breaks free of her normal setting of an external producer directed album and found her soul trappings and plays in an uncharted space musically producing her own project with the help of one of Columbus Ohio’s musical geniuses Jonathan Baker assisting her in some of the tracks. Renee has crafted a delicate safe space of honest music creating a home within her lyrics and detailing patience through some of life’s harsh and gorgeous transitions as Gods child a woman and an artist. More info here www.reneedion.com \nMOTUS – Performing styles ranging from thought-provoking ballades to backbeat funk and fusion\, Mōtus is influenced by many of today’s contemporary jazz\, R&B\, neo soul\, and hip-hop groups and producers. They find inspiration in socially and politically conscious music and aim to compose songs that are in the same vein.\nhttps://motus.band/ \nDirty Ferns – Born from the loam of the Pacific Northwest\, they are Dirty Ferns~\nhttps://dirtyferns.bandcamp.com/ \nAltLib Always All Ages~~~

SUMMARY:Experimental Guitar Feature: Captain Raab\, Dylan Freeman\, Jack Aldrich\, more
DESCRIPTION:The AltLib hosts a night of experimental music with all guitar-generated/originated-sound from five radical local guitarists! \nDoors at 7:30pm; Music at 8:00pm\n$6 admission supports the artists and the AltLib \n— \nCaptain Raab is a B’ham based guitarist and member of the Seattle-based group Khu.éex’ and worked with Bernie Worrell in various contexts for a number of years. He’ll be doing a set of phase shifting\, fuzz\, loops\, lanquidity\, and spiritual mayhem.\nhttps://khueex.bandcamp.com \nOracle Cop – The formerly semi-dormant solo project of local guitar wielder Zach Zinn (of PRND and NavigatorCommunicator). Recently\, this project has reemerged amidst a flurry of strings\, with sets spanning the gamut between morphing melodies\, transfixing drones and frenetic squeals. Listeners may expect unconventional instrumentation and timing\, paired with emotive passages of contemplative ambience. Projecting dynamism and power that is often considered the advantage of a full band\, Zinn captivates the listener using just a guitar and a smattering of pedals.\nhttps://whatsup-magazine.com/2014/04/11-questions-zach-zinn/ \nEgo Arcadia\nhttps://egoarcadia.bandcamp.com/album/furniture-music-2 \nKristal McKinstry is a one-mermaid ‘saraswati meets captain nemo’ band\, performs in three genres as The Zodiac Sandcrabs\, The Springs\, and Tits to the Wind\, in the genres of Coral-reef ‘sweet sister ray’-impressionist-klezmer-space-ragas\, 1920’s delightfully whimsical creepy & existential ballads on topics like AI Barbies with a bebop-gogo-surf twist\, and vision-quest horror-folk pirate shanties.\n \nJack Aldrich\nhttps://kuvoza.bandcamp.com/

SUMMARY:Poetrynight
DESCRIPTION:The second longest running Bellingham poetry group- poetrynight.\nAll people are invited to join the group any Monday night at 7 pm.  You don’t have to be a writer to participate as readers of all ages are always invited to sign up to read between 6:30-7:00. Not all works must be originals. \nPoetrynight got its start in Stuart’s Coffeehouse in 1995\, when a group of poets gathered around a table to share their current work.  It has grown over the years as it moved to different locations. \nPoetrynight is a program under the Whatcom poetry series and besides the weekly open mic/feature\, can provide creative writing workshops for schools.
