SUMMARY:Yoga w/ Sarah
DESCRIPTION:Bio: Sarah Hirsch has been practicing yoga for over a decade\, and teaching for two years. She earned her 200 hour teacher certification in Rishikesh\, India\, in 2015. Her classes emphasize the connection between body\, mind\, and spirit\, helping to cultivate a deeper relationship with the Universe as a whole. She strives to use inclusive language and modifications in order to create a safe space where practitioners can relax and release into their practice. \nDescription: Beginner/Intermediate Hatha Flow Yoga\nThis class brings together the slower\, more meditative approach of Hatha Yoga with the dynamic\, breath-centered focus of Vinyasa. Poses will be held for several breaths in order to sink deeply into the posture while utilizing active transitions to build heat and movement within the practice. Perfect for beginners\, as well as those with established practices! Classes are donation based.

SUMMARY:Radical Reading Group
DESCRIPTION:This is going to be a monthly reading group dedicated to writings and other media sources\, around radical political theory\, history\, poetry\, narratives\, etc. Themes may include radical feminism\, green anarchy\, civil rights issues\, ecological concerns\, gender issues\, and everything in between. Content will be posted on event pages and then discussed at the event. Feel free to attend even if you haven’t consumed the material. Please check the event page for guiding questions and links to content.\n.\n.\n.\nTheme of first reading group: Political Imagination \nGuiding Questions: \nWhat do we mean by political imagination? \nWhat might it mean to “open-up” political imagination and why/how might this be useful?\n\nHow does the prole.info piece imagine our everyday relationships (to one another through work\, community\, media\, etc.)? And what does the piece suggest (if anything) that we do to change them? \nHow does the Tyler the Creator song imagine our everyday relationships and are there suggestions for changing them? \nWhy might it be important to utilize multiple levels of engagement to open up the political imagination? \nWhat are some limits of imagining and how do we move into political possibility? \nLinks to suggested consumables (1st reading group February 10th): \nhttp://prole.info/wcpw/index.html \nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AHhBQM4QXA \nhttp://artactivism.gn.apc.org/allpdfs/422-Pots%20Pans%20and%20Popular.pdf \nhttps://insurrectionnewsworldwide.com/2017/11/26/olympia-usa-demands-of-the-olympia-commune/ \nhttp://www.soleone.org/solecast/2016/3/3/solecast-23-w-flobots-on-music-resistance-comic-books \nhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/homesnowbellingham/

SUMMARY:Crafting Safer Spaces - Discussion
DESCRIPTION:This will be an ongoing event\, each first Thursday of the month\, to create better accountability processes within the space\, and to create more accountability among the community. In the effort of maintaining the Alternative Library as a safer space\, we will be discussing practices and protocols of the space\, and exploring what engaged people can do to actively advocate for folks who have suffered from\, or are targets for\, sexual harassment and assault. A secondary function of this time may be to discuss holding safer space for marginalized groups of all kinds\, including discussions about how to combat racism\, sexism\, homophobia\, transphobia\, systemic oppression\, and the like in the Alt Lib and other connected venues and art spaces in the community. \nHere is the current Alt Lib policy on safer space \nSafer Space

SUMMARY:Rebel Worker Movie: Who Bombed Judi Bar
DESCRIPTION:Whatcom/Skagit IWW presents the monthly Rebel Worker Movie on the fourth Wednesday of each month. \nWho Bombed Judi Bar (2012): January 24th\, 2018 \nJudi Bari and Darryl Cherney were falsely arrested for car-bombing themselves on May 24\, 1990 while on an Earth First! musical organizing tour for Redwood Summer. They sued the FBI for violations of the First Amendment\, claiming the FBI knew they were innocent but arrested them to try to silence them. Having survived the bomb but now stricken by cancer\, Judi Bari\, a leader of the movement to save California’s old growth redwoods\, gives her on-camera\, deathbed testimony about the attempt on her life and her colorful organizing history with the radical environmental movement Earth First. \nPlease bring a $5 donation to support the IWW organizing fund.
