DESCRIPTION:The Alternative Library returns in a new incarnation ~ Our new space is still under construction\, and we’re excited to host a spontaneous performance with local friends and artists on tour from Germany! \nDoors at 7:00pm\n$6-10 supports the artists and the AltLib \nLettuce Inn is the improvisational ambient expression forged out of collaboration between Gabriel Seaver (of the band WEEED)\, David Schnitzler & Elias Foerster (of the German band Sea Moya!). DESCRIPTION:We’re hosting the first meeting of S.U.B. (Synthesist Union of Bellingham)! This is intended as a monthly workshop and group jam for folks with synthesizers and electronic instruments to plug in and play together\, to encourage and grow the electronic music scene in Bellingham! Come show us what you got! \nSynthesizers / Circuit Bending / Pedal Building / ETC! \nThe first meeting will open with an hour or so of synth-related workshop followed by two hours of open play. \nWe will have our sound system available for folks to patch into\, and you are welcome and encouraged to bring any electronic instruments or related projects you’ve been playing with! \n~~~\nThe AltLib is always ALL AGES!\nOur space is currently still under construction and has two steps leading to the front door\, and our restroom does not meet ADA accessibility standards. SUMMARY:Unist'ot'en Info Session - Updates from Indigenous Frontlines
DESCRIPTION:Come to the Alternative Library to gather in solidarity and hear the latest information from the Wet’suwet’en people\, who are currently defending their land amid continual trespasses from the Canadian government and gas companies trying to remove them from their land and force them to accept a gas pipeline that would run through their unceded land. We will watch the latest videos released from the frontlines and hear from supporters who have recently visited. \nOn December 31\, 2019\, the BC Supreme Court granted an injunction against members of the Wet’suwet’en nation who have been stewarding and protecting their traditional territories from the destruction of the Coastal GasLink pipeline. In response\, Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs rejected the decision\, issued\, and enforced an eviction of Coastal GasLink workers from the territory. We are responding to the call for solidarity actions\, as the militarized Canadian police prepares again to enact colonial violence against Wet’suwet’en people. \nThe Unist’ot’en Camp and Wet’suwet’en people have been occupying their unceded territories and resisting the construction of multiple pipelines for 10 years.
