Imagine a Green New Deal but not the liberal/greenwashed perpetuation of extractive industry for the colonial/imperial state. This posits a true new deal — decolonize / land back / mutuality / native-led restoration and reciprocity, both for land and people. This work lays out why any policy that isn’t explicitly anti-colonial and native-centered will fail to address the interlocking systems of social, political and environmental degradation. Great introductory work if you’re new to the topic; if you’re well acquainted with the topic, it’s a bit of a let down because it proposes solutions (like divesting) that require mass involvement rather than focusing on direct, hands-on individual solutions that don’t require the “mass movement” fantasy.
