IWW Film Screening: PRIDE

March 19, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Pride tells the inspiring tale of a group of gays and lesbians in London who raise money for the striking coal miners in 1984- the miners are largely homophobic. The subsequent development of tolerance and respect is a great story. The film is based on true events and real people during Margaret Thatcher’s attempt to shut down the British unions. THIS IS THE GREATEST SOLIDARITY FILM IN YEARS.
Proceeds benefit the Alternative Library, the IWW Organzing Fund, and Jobs with Justice. Chairs are in short supply, so consider bringing your own folding chair or a cushion. Plenty of room on the floor.
This is the first film in the Rebel Worker Film Series, which will be a regularly recurring event hosted by Whatcom/Skagit IWW at the Alternative Library.
