Let’s Talk About Sex

May 12, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Let’s Talk About It… is an afternoon of open conversation about topics that affect all of us, featuring different voices from within the community.

This month, Let’s Talk About… Sex.

In facilitated group discussions, we’ll examine:
-How we learn about sex
-How we relate sex and intimacy
-What is our relationship with sex concerning sexual autonomy (the body)?

Featured guests:
Blanca Ortega — prevention education specialist for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services (DVSAS). Blanca works closely with middle and high schools throughout Whatcom County facilitating The Empowerment Project, a three day prevention curriculum which addresses healthy relationships and consent. Blanca also provides advocacy to students that are in need of support after experiencing any type of trauma involving domestic/dating violence and or sexual assault.

Void — member of the Bellingham Sex Positive Center. The BSPC works to create a safe and inclusive environment that provides education, active community, and open exploration of consensual gratification. Void has been been active in the kink community through the BSPC for ten months. Currently engaging in RACK, or risk aware consensual kink, Void is exploring enhancing and expanding their sense of intimacy, autonomy, and general pleasure.

Josefina Mora — senior at WWU and a retail associate at WinkWink Boutique. This summer she’ll be transitioning to be the assistant educational and outreach manager. Josefina is an active member of community groups focused on immigrant justice and is the daughter of undocumented community leader Maru Mora Villalpando.
