While we are in transition and searching for a stable home base, we will continue to produce events with some of our neighborhood partners.

The AltLib Popup Series will present roving events to continue supporting expansive art projects and dig deep for uncommon cultural exchanges. If you’re interested in setting up a show with us, please read our booking page and send us an e-mail.

Capacity will be limited to 35 attendees.
$8 advance tickets are available by making a PayPal donation with the button at the bottom of this page!

This performance will be presented at the Flow Shala yoga studio, located on the lower floor of 203 W. Chestnut Street. Proof of vaccination is required for entry.

Ruby Rae Jones will open the evening with her piece, Dreaming the Whale, a performance about the affects of noise pollution on whales during migration and feeding.

Somasonic Liberation is inspired by Pauline Olivero’s Sonic Meditations and Brian Eno’s sing-alongs, Sasha Petrenko leads a collective sonic ritual meant to, in the words of Oliveros, “return control of sound to the individual alone and within groups especially for humanitarian purposes, specifically healing.”

Or in Enos words, I want “to stop being Me for a little while, and become Us.”

This will take shape as a multi-media performance, involving the audience as participants, and may consist of drums, chimes, electric guitar, various effects pedals, vocal microphones directed towards the audience, along with some sonified objects that respond to touch and proximity.

Through this process of somasonic liberation a kind of music may occur naturally.
