Codex Seraphinianus, originally published in 1981, is an illustrated encyclopedia of an imaginary world, written entirely in a strange, generally unintelligible alphabet.

It contains chapters on the plant and animal life as well as scientific laws which govern the strange world of Serafini\’s dreams.
