This is a great look into Thomas Jefferson and his philosophies, and how they relate to today's world. This book consists of a bunch of different topics (each topic being no longer than 2-4 pages), ranging from friendship and education, to wine and nature. For those of you interested in the man who wrote The Declaration Of Independence, this is yet another glimpse into the beauty of life as Thomas Jefferson saw it. Highly inspirational.

This is an awesome book... Considered as one of the best Sci-Fi books of all time, and for good reason. The beginning 1/4 starts out slow, but builds the Dune-iverse and main characters. In the rest of the book, you'll learn of all sorts of treachery and follow the two "Houses" (House Atreides and House Harkonen) as they plan to ruin each other and gain control of the infamous and cosmically expensive/rare "Spice Melange", a drug that will alter one's consciousness and drastically increase life expectancy... The only place you can get spice is on the small desert (Dune) planet Arrakis, which is where House Atreides has been relocated by the Emperor, in hopes that House Harkonen will undermine and eventually destroy the Atreides name. Arrakis (the Dune planet) is a very harsh, dry environment with few inhabitants, including mice, vultures, desert plants, and of course, worms the size of skyscrapers (who are somehow closely related to the Spice Melange...). Water is of ultimate worth on this planet, whereas elswhere in the galaxy, a briefcase of Spice Melange can purchase a planet. This is a great book. Best enjoyed with a glass of water... Trust me, it'll enhance the experience.

This is an incredible book. If you're interested in mushrooms and mycology, look into this one. From what mushrooms are, to how they behave, how they can (and have) helped our civilization deal with polution, to growing and enjoying the harvest. This book can be read as a scientific research aid, or as a growers guide. This is not an identification guide, but the Alternative Library has those too. Highly recommended for those of you who are looking to learn about mushrooms. This is one of the most complete books on growing and the uses of numerous types of mushrooms.

This Marvel series is sweet. If you're tired of good guys fighting bad guys, but are still into the idea of superheroes... This is a must read. A Civil War brought to the surface of the superheor/supervilin community, over the idea that in order to be a "superhero", one must hand over their personal identity and register with the government... Otherwise they will be considered a criminal and a fugitive with a warrant out for their capture and arrest. Split down the middle, many believe that revealing their identity will make them and their loved ones a target for violent crime, where others believe that they should have nothing to worry about and that it's about time that heroes take responsibility for the damage they create while fighting crime. After all, police officers have to register and deal with the same issue, why shouldn't a person with extraordinary powers? All in all, its a sweet read that touches on powerful philosophical and governmental issues.

This is a sweet graphic novel, that begins where the Hellboy series "Conqueror Worm" ends. This first B.P.R.D. (Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defence) novel is probably my least favorite, in terms of story... but a very effective book for building the characters. This book (Vol. 1) consists of a bunch of short stories, following Hellboy's colleagues at the B.P.R.D., a company that looks into abnormal reports such as ghost sightings etc... Its a fun start to the world of the unexplained and incorporates ideas of mythology and history into the stories. This is a good one, but Vol's. 2 and 3 have much better stories in my opinion. Recommended if you are into Hellboy, or are looking for a stimulating and dynamic world to read about. There are tonnes of strange happenings in the world and the B.P.R.D. has their work cut out for them...

This is Amazing! The story meanders in a lazy dream-like fashion through the strangely enjoyable mundane days, then somewhere around 2/3rds everything shifts into a perfectly unfamiliar time flow and surreality that i read through really quickly for some reason. It just felt right. Really cool faces, shading and perspective. superb.

So, I started reading this book, hoping it would be really cool. After a while it struck me as really sexist, and So I stopped reading it. Amen.

When I first looked upon this book, I was repulsed by it. The black and white seemed impenetrable, and the pictures made me feel strange. 9 months later, after finishing Skin Deep (another book by the same author), and enjoying it, finding that it did not lack humanity in the same way I had previously imagined, I Picked up Black Hole again, and burned through it in a matter of hours. It felt good. Moments of real Realness, and a newfound enjoyment of Burns' drawing style and creepiness. Real Cool.

The story starts off a little slow, but by the end it has a hypnotic, dreamy effect.

Lynda Barry's illustrations and stories are captivating and chock full of human spirit. I had a really hard time pacing myself while reading this book, it's just so so good. Also personally, her artistic freedom provokes a lot of inspiration. She's a master at telling stories through comics, it's like candy to read!

No offense to Hunter Rose, but Christine Spar is my favorite Grendel. The electric art by Pander Brothers enhance Christine Spar's dystopian world of revenge. Recommended to any fan of Matt Wagner or the Grendel character.

An early tale of exploits of Catwoman in Rome. The art team of Time Sale and Dave Stewart and written by Jeph Loeb work well to portray a stylish sixties European feel to the story.

Batman in a very realistic, but futuristic setting with dirty angst. One of Paul Pope's best comic work. Jose Villarubia's colors compliment Paul Pope's art very well.

Reminiscent of Heath Ledger's cinema portrayal of The Joker. A stand out art job by Lee Bermejo. Bermejo's art on this book varies from Ink to Painting, but doesn't confuse the reader. Good writing by Brian Azzarello as well.
